Monitoring the high energy branch of S5 0716+714

摘要：
The BL Lac object S5 0716+714 was target of a multifrequency monitoring campaign in spring 1996. The campaign covered the spectrum from the mm-band to the EGRET band. Pronounced variability was observed in the optical and X-ray bands. A close relation between both bands is suggested by a similar increase of the quiescent flux with superimposed independent flaring activity.
