摘要
Better data makes for better decisions. When planning on rehabilitation or replacement of pipes, or when trying to design a long-term asset management plan, detailed and quantitative data are crucial. Making rehabilitation timing decisions solely on qualitative video codes can lead to inefficiencies, which can cost millions. Advancements in multi-sensor inspection technology will provide asset owners with the quantifiable information they need to make better decisions about the timing of replacement or rehabilitation. This paper presents two case studies outlining the most recent advancements of multi-sensor inspection methods that combine pipe penetrating radar, LiDAR, sonar, and 360 degrees HD video. The adaptability and effectiveness of these technologies and methods allow asset owners to make decisions based on quantitative, comprehensive data. Informed decision making is critical for effective asset management.
