Precise and gentle interventions, personalized implants as well as fast and safe diagnosis make the processes in the operation room more and more complex. Furthermore, the complexity increases by the aim of a close temporal and functional linking of procedures from diagnosis and intervention as well as the embedding of bioproduction into the course of treatment. The analysis of information from more sources, and the control of an increasingly number of devices exceeds the human capacity of surgeons. This paper describes so-called "closed-loop" concepts for medical systems as one possible way to handle future complex activities in the operation room.
