摘要
There is a need for a better understanding of the factors affecting the behavior of a wind farm (WF) under fault conditions, so it is essential to analyze the fault characteristic of a WF. This paper firstly describes a detailed modeling of a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG)-based WF, and analyzes the symmetrical fault characteristic of the WF considering different wind speeds, fault positions and reactive power control strategies of the grid side converter. The relay protection and the related grid code are also taken into account. The results show a symmetrical fault characteristic analysis of a PMSG-based WF and the conclusions can be used to develop new control and/or protection methods for a PMSG-based WF.
