摘要
Traditional English teaching in China is faced with the criticism from all walks of the society. It deserves people to think what pushes the English teaching into such a dilemma and how to get it out. As a frontline English teacher, a belief is strongly held that to assure the teaching effects should design each teaching activity carefully under the direction of a scientific teaching and learning theory. Instructional design is the soul of teaching activities and it determines whether teaching aims can be realized with high efficiency. Instructional design that adheres to rules of teaching and learning is the key to guarantee the effective teaching. The paper is written to discuss the instructional design under constructivism so as to probe the way of effective English language teaching in China. The research is based on the hope to contribute to the reform of English language education in China.
