New side-chain liquid crystalline polymer with flexible spacer backbone

摘要：
A flexible polymer backbone side-chain liquid crystalline polymer (SCLCP) system having a flexible spacer in the polymer backbone and no spacer in the side group was synthesized. 4,8-cyclododecadienyl 4′-methoxy-4-biphenyl terephthalate (CDDMBT) was prepared and polymerized by metathesis polymerization. The double bonds in the polymer backbone were hydrogenated with H2/Pd(C) to produce SCLCP with a saturated and flexible backbone.
