摘要：

The new data of model investigations on cathodic passivation, nature of galvanic macrocells, and the dimensional effects in the defects of insulation on underground pipelines are analyzed. Partially revising some conventional concepts concerning the mechanism of the corrosion and cathodic protection of steel in soils is advisable.
