摘要：
OVERVIEW: Sourcing innovation externally and being able to collaborate are the keys to success in the '' flat world '' that Thomas Friedman has written about. The challenge continues to be how to identify and bring together the right resources to tran transform technology into a form that will enjoy a soceital and economic ben fit-bridging acadenmic and the for-profit communities. If businesses expect to be competitive in a flat world, they need to understand how universities develop technology and transfer that technology to society.
