Energy Saving Algorithms Based on Wavelength Migration in Time and Wavelength Division Multiplexed Passive Optical Networks

摘要
Time and Wavelength Division Multiplexed Passive Access Network (TWDM-PON) can support 40Gb/s transmission rate, which has become a hot research topic. Due to the bandwidth flexibility, wavelength flexibility and multiple users' access, it is imperative to optimize network resources, improve the transmission rate meanwhile reduce network energy consumption. This paper has proposed two optimization algorithms which reduce the working wavelengths number as far as possible and then put off the idle wavelengths, so as to reduce the network energy consumption. In addition, the proposed two algorithms can also improve the bandwidth utilization of wavelengths. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithms can effectively reduce the network energy consumption and improve the bandwidth utilization.
