摘要
This paper presents the electromagnetic thrust ripple and energy consumption analysis of a modular permanent magnet linear synchronous motor being an element of a transportation system. The primary part of the transportation system consists of multiple individually excited three-phase stator segments with an iron core and fractional slot concentrated windings. The secondary part is a number of movers with finite length permanent magnet way that move freely along the movement track. The parallel and serial winding connections of elementary machines composing the stator segment are considered in the paper. Two prototypes of transportation systems having a dual elementary machine segment were studied. Both FEM simulation and experimental results demonstrate that compared to the parallel connection the serial connection of windings provides sufficient reduction in thrust ripple and power losses, when the finite-length secondary part moves between the subsequent modules. Due to the uneven back-EMF distribution, the parallel connection of elementary machines is not recommended for such systems.
