Comparison of valuation of skid resistance of pavements by two device with standard methods

摘要
The article is concerned about the evaluation of pavement skid resistance by the TWO device (Traction Watcher One) which is the property of Centre of Excellence, University of Zilina. There will be compared values of the coefficient of friction gained by the device with the values gained by volumetric method and method of measuring the coefficient of friction by pendulum tester. The measurements were performed on ten selected road sections. The road sections were different in type of used asphalt mixture in wearing course. For measurements of the coefficient of friction by the TWO device two different types of tires were used to detect an influence of various texture types. From the gained values the influence of particular textures to measured values of the coefficient of friction was settled. Prediction of the coefficient of friction in terms of measured values was determined from the results of texture measurement. In conclusion, relations of influence of used measurement tire type on the values of the coefficient of friction were processed. (C) 2015 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
