摘要
Density, surface tension and viscosity of the melt of BaB2O4 have been investigated in the temperature range of 1271-1463 K. It was found that the density of the melt decreased with increasing temperature with a temperature dependence of rho=(4.453-0.000545)T over the temperature range. It was also found that at a certain temperature the density decreased with time over the first 600 min and then tended to a steady value. The surface tension of the melt decreased linearly with increasing temperature. There was no significance of surface tension with time. The viscosity of the BaB2O4 melt ranged from 20 to 61 mPa s over the temperature range. The activation energy of the viscous flow for the melt estimated from the data was 0.95 eV. The time effect on the viscosity of the melt at 1460 K has also been observed and it was similar to that of the density.
