摘要
In this contribution I outline some important issues in star and planet formation which could be addressed by a space-based, optical-ultraviolet telescope of large aperture: determining the stellar initial mass function, detecting molecular hydrogen in disks and envelopes, measuring disk accretion and possibly detecting disk evaporation, and investigating details of disk structure.
