摘要
Al2O3:C has been found to exhibit high thermoluminescence (TL) response to UV radiation in addition to ionising radiation. Though the change in absorption spectra and the process of deposition of energy by UV in Al2O3:C are considerably different from that by ionising radiation, the TL emission and the behaviour of glow curves was found to remain the same and the TL signal due to UV and ionising radiation remained additive. In view of high TL sensitivity to UV no significant phototransfer thermoluminescence (PTTL) from deeper traps to dosimetric traps could be observed from samples pre-irradiated up to 60 mGy of Sr-90/Y-90 beta rays or about 0.27 Gy of Am-241 alpha particles by using UV exposure from a mercury lamp. Also, UV exposure was found not to exhibit any reduction of TL signal in pre-irradiated samples.
