摘要
A novel tandem mass spectrometry instrument (PTM Discovery System (TM)) offers the application of two different MS fragmentation techniques (i.e., collisionally-induced dissociation, CID, and electrontransfer dissociation, ETD) showing highly complementary fragmentation results with a short duty cycle, allowing fast peptide identification and characterization with on-line separation techniques. The information obtained from both techniques is suited ideally for the characterization of posttranslational modifications (PTM), such as phosphorylation.
