Data mining approaches base on a powerful methodology Since many years, they have been applied to different problems in technics, natural sciences, and economics Earlier data mining methods were restricted to data sets consisting of tables with a manageable number of features Now there is a growing need for the analysis of high dimensional data resulting from sensor networks with high resolution time series, images, and videos The paper introduces the underlying methods and gives an overview about major application fields
