A generalized ray-tracing algorithm for integrated visual and auditory rendering in room acoustics

摘要
Based on various similarities between the propagation natures of light and sound, a generalized ray-tracing algorithm for integrated visual and auditory rendering is proposed in room acoustics. In this algorithm, both the physical model of sound and the physical model of light are treated. Furthermore, a virtual environmental system using this generalized integrated algorithm is proposed for acoustical design and evaluation of auditoriums. These theories will improve the reliability and feasibility of the initial computer acoustic design of the building. Two examples are considered in order to demonstrate the validity of the generalized ray-tracing algorithm.
