Behavior of reactive organic compounds in mixed convective systems

摘要
Presented here are the results of flow tank experiments designed to examine elements of contaminant transport in density and reaction coupled systems. Our experiments show that reactive coupling can add significant complexities to the pattern of plume evolution. The density-determining species and the dissolved organic tracer can follow quite different pathways through the system. These findings have important implications not only for patterns of plume development, but also flows developed as part of various in situ remedial processes.
