摘要
Departing from Marxist and Cultural Studies, and Discourse Semiotis, Ian McEwan's novel Reparation, is observed as a rhetorial and aesthetic object inserted into the social tensions of class struggle and the simbolization of historical-material subjects, so that its main character, Briony Tellis, exists as a problematic and emblematic figure of the relationship between fiction and history, thuth and lie, individuality and collectivity, and utopia and dystopia, bearing what Jameson (1988) calls "existential historicist schizophrenia", also revealed in the ambiguous and ironic form of the novel.
