The linear temperature-dependence of the 'normal state' planar resistivity of the cuprate superconductor has been explained by assuming that this state is mainly at the two-channel Kondo fixed point of the cuprate. This fixed point is stable in the usual non-stoichiometrically doped and moderately disordered cuprate. The stability(instability) is not absolute but is only a very slow(fast) decay of the above fixed point. There is a great deal of empirical evidence that the doped cuprate is a Kondo lattice and the normal state is mainly at its two channel fixed point. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
