Microstructure of the Zr-Nb alloy in zones of localized deformation and prefailure

摘要
The dislocation structure in stationary zones of localization of plastic deformation in a Zr + 1% Nb alloy was studied by speckle interferometry at the parabolic stage of strain hardening. The defect structure in the regions of minima and maxima of localized deformation was established to differ in quantitative parameters. The high rate of accumulation of defects in localized-deformation zones results in a transformation of one of such zones into a neck as the degree of total deformation increases.
