摘要
For a country to compete in the global village, its education system should deliver educated people of the desired quality. In the desired quality equation parameters such as productivity, wealth creation and customer satisfaction appear. To account for quality with respect to these parameters a holistic approach to total quality management (TQM) is needed. Quality assurance components are the responsibility for: maintaining the quality of the service enhancing the quality of the product taking ownership of the systems that are in place keeping effective structures and mechanisms in place In this article the focus will be on ownership of the systems in place, and specifically: Clients and Customers In education the client-base is two-pronged. On the one hand there are students who are the direct receivers of education, and on the other are industry and commerce who are to employ these graduates in the labour market. Faculty The competence, functioning and contentment of faculty need to be reviewed in a TQM system. The Organization The productivity of the organization in achieving its goals by the productive implementation of scarce resources is reviewed.
