Al2O3/MoSi2 multilayer composites (MLCs) prepared by tape casting

摘要
A new multilayer composite (MLC) design with a super-plastic layer and a hard layer was proposed in this paper. In the preliminary experimental work, Al2O3 and MoSi2+Mo2B5 were selected as the hard and superplastic phases respectively. Then Al2O3/MoSi2, Al2O3/MoSi2+Mo2B5 and Al2O3/TiC/MoSi2+Mo2B5 MLCs were prepared by tape casting. The bending strength and the stress-displacement behaviors of these MLCS were investigated. The microstructures were observed by SEM. It was found that the super-plastic layer of MoSi2+Mo2B5 could connect the main crack after the Al2O3 hard layer broken. In addition the matching conditions for the selection of the materials of these two layers were discussed briefly. On the other hand, TiC could be used as a weak interphase material.
