MATH LEARNING STYLES AND MATH VIEWS OF BRAZILIAN PROSPECTIVE TEACHERS

摘要
This paper focuses on the math learning strategies and learning math styles of prospective teachers. Brazilian students (239) taking a preparatory course to become teachers answered a survey providing a data set examined through exploratory factor analysis. Three learning styles were identified as a theoretical tendency, a practical tendency and an investigative tendency. Math conceptions, math learning conceptions and mathematical thinking conceptions have been determined and amalgamated on wide constructs: a surface math view as well as a deep one. Learning styles are affected by those math views. Students' and teachers' knowledge about their math learning styles and views of mathematics remains as a research subject that could positively reflect on math lessons.
