ENERGY USE EFFICIENCY AND ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF BLACK CUMIN PRODUCTION IN TURKEY

摘要
This study was conducted with the purpose of analysing energy use efficiency and economic aspects of black cumin production in Turkey. 72 black cumin producers from 5 different villages in Burdur province were subjected to a one-on-one questionnaire. Then the acquired data were analysed. The resulting energy input and output figures of black cumin production were 10,551.76 MJ ha(-1) and 17,371.08 MJ ha(-1), respectively. The outcomes indicate that chemical fertilizers, nitrogen in particular. were the greatest energy utilization (40.81%). Energy use efficiency, specific energy, energy productivity and net energy for black cumin production were determined as 1.65, 16.06 MJ kg(-1). 0.06 and 6819.32 MJ ha(-1), respectively. Gross product and total variable costs were US$ 1379,7 and US$ 555.8, respectively. Hence gross profit was defined to be US$ 823.9. Relative return was 1.60, indicating black cumin production as a satisfactory type of farms.
