Comment on Hopwood, 'Interpersonal Dynamics in Personality and Personality Disorders'

In this comment, I offer four reactions to Hopwood (2018a). First, I believe that Hopwood (2018a) demonstrates how and why categories continue to be useful in the study of personality and its pathology. Second, many models discuss interpersonal dynamics in personality pathology, and these models should be rightfully evaluated in subsequent research. Third, clinicians need to be studied far more than they currently are for what they value in any assessment framework. And finally, an expanded framework for assessing personality severity holds substantial promise and ought to be further studied. (c) 2018 European Association of Personality Psychology
