New phases of the compound Cs2Mo4O13

摘要
The solid state reaction between Cs2MoO4 and MoO3 was studied with 1:3 molar ratio. Thermal study BE the reaction mixture in air showed the formation of Cs2Mo4O13 of phase A, which undergoes phase changes, on further heating, to give phases B and C of the same compound before melting. The three phases were isolated by quenching the product obtained by heating Cs2MoO4+3 MoO3 in air in temperature ranges of 733-753, 773-783 and 803-973 K. X-ray diffraction patterns of the phases A, B and C have been indexed on monoclinic unit cells. The high temperature X-ray diffraction studies also confirm the existence of three phases of the compound Cs2Mo4O13. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
