Bluetooth is increasingly being used in the role of "last meter" technology for indoor wireless universal coverage. In such scenario, ad-hoe Bluetooth networks provide simple and cost-effective intercommunication of various mobile devices, and are now targeted to support multimedia traffic. However, the transmission of video over Bluetooth is a challenging problem, partly due error and interference conditions. This paper examines the performance of Bluetooth protocol to carry streaming video in real experimental test scenarios. The impact of interference, obstruction and transmission distance on the performance of video streaming over Bluetooth link are investigated. Analysis and suggestions of how the performance of the streaming can be enhanced are discussed.
