摘要
In this paper, we summarize our efforts to develop quantitative structure-property relationships for die-cast magnesium alloys. Specifically, we present an approach for predicting the quasi-static yield strength, flow strength and fracture strain for high-pressure die-cast alloy AM60B based on the results of key experimental observations. From this work, we conclude that the relevant mechanical properties of a magnesium alloy die-casting can be predicted with knowledge of the local grain size distribution and area fraction of porosity. The models presented here form the basis for predicting local variations of mechanical properties found in high-pressure die-castings (HPDCs) and permit quantitative analysis of the decrease in ductility found in coupons cut from larger castings in comparison to as-cast tensile specimens.
