摘要
The increased uptake of renewable energy and subsequently increased uncertainties pose significant challenges to maintain the reliability of the renewable-rich distribution network. Auto-reclosers (ARCs) are used in distribution networks to improve system reliability. This study focuses on analyzing the reliability of a renewable-rich distribution network that is equipped with auto-reclosers. Optimization is carried out to determine the optimum numbers and locations of auto-reclosers such that maximum network reliability and benefit are ensured at the least cost. Prime reliability indices such as SAIDI, SAIFI, and ENS, two novel indices, the RNRE and ARAE, have been calculated to determine the system reliability. The study also shows that the inclusion of distributed generation (DGs) in a network enhances both the reliability and economic benefits even further, thereby establishing a positive role of DGs in the system reliability.
