Spinal extradural hydatid cyst

Objective and Importance: Hydatid disease of the bones is uncommon. Spinal hydatid disease presenting with compressive neuropathy is very rare. This case is presented for the rarity of this condition. Clinical Presentation: An adult male patient with previously treated hydatid cyst of the liver presented with symptoms of spinal nerve root compression. MRT of the spine revealed an extradural cyst which was treated with surgical excision. Conclusion: Patients with a known history of hydatidosis should be suspected of spinal hydatid when presenting with symptoms or signs of cord or nerve root compression.
