Design of the high performance multimedia service server of the grade of 20Mbps in the NGIS system

摘要
in this paper, we discuss how to make a high performance multimedia streaming service server of the 20Mbps contents in the system of NGIS (Next Generation Internet Server). The target environment is the cyber apartment that has 1Gbps intranet. This server's goal is making a streaming service server of the high bit-rate contents in this environment and we focus in 20Mbps MPEG-2 TS contents because you know, MPEG-2 goal is the high bit-rate, performance, resolution of HDTV, and TS format's goal is the transfer data through the network. Also we will support MPEG-1/2 PS, MPEG-4 hinted track files of the future work, and the others. Contents are had very various bit-rate which is 2Mbps similar to 20Mbps, and we design the server which stream well those contents. We should concurrently stream 20Mbps contents to maximum 50 users pert one NS card. So we must be managing PMEM buffer these reasons, and we need to design many interfaces among NGIS system and streammg server parts. In this paper, we discuss the design of interfacing of NS card reader, data transmitter, RTP sender and session management, and packetizing algorithm of data packet of WEG-1/2 PS, and also buffer management algorithm of the future work.
