Regional Index of Competitiveness of Russian Regions

The article is devoted to the problem of assessing the level of competitiveness of the region. In this article, it is shown that modem science does not have the tools to identify the specifics of the region as a subject endowed with the properties of competitiveness and ways of isolating these properties. Attention is focused on the fact that under such conditions there is a substitution of the assessment of the region's competitiveness by an assessment of the level of social and economic development of the region. A characteristic of a new approach to the construction of a methodology for assessing the competitiveness of the region based on the concept of the basic properties of competitiveness is given. Methodical approaches to the definition of the regional competitiveness index, harmonized with the global index of competitiveness from the World Economic Forum, are disclosed. The results of calculations of the regional competitiveness index of Russian regions based on statistical information are presented.
