A Grey Model Method for Identifying System Failure Cause from Masked Data

A grey model approach is presented to identify true cause to system failure in this paper. Then the identified data are used to estimate system reliability functions. The grey relational analysis (GRA) is also used to assist judging identified effect by grey prediction model. A numerical example is given to illustrate our presented approach. The results indicate that our proposed approach can do a better job of identifying system failure true cause from masked system life data and estimating system reliability functions than other approaches.
