Handset antenna evaluation based on measured distributions

摘要
For evaluating the performance of a mobile phone it is important to know the signal distribution in the evaluation environment. For the first time ever a very large measurement campaign along long continuous routes for measuring the arrival angle of incident signals at the mobile station at 2.15 GHz has been made. Measured elevation distributions in five environments, office, corridor, suburban outdoor, urban macrocell, and highway, are presented. The signals seem to arrive at the mobile station mainly in the horizontal plane or slightly above that. XPR values vary from 6.7 dB to 11.4 dB in the evaluation environments. Mean effective gain (MEG) values for 5 antennas in the measured environments are given. Two of the antennas are evaluated also beside a phantom head. The average effect of the phantom head is 2.5 dB.
