Decision-making in the iowa gambling task: a comparison based on the variable "education"

摘要
The Iowa Gambling Task (IGT) is a tool used internationally in the evaluation of decision-making processing. Given the lack of studies about the role of age in performance in the IGT, this investigation aimed to compare the performance in the IGT of two groups, one composed by younger adults with 5 to 8 years of education, the other by adults with 12 or more years of education. Evidence of learning was found only in the more highly educated group, while the less educated group improved its performance only in the first block, the most implicit of this task. More research is needed with groups of less- and intermediately-educated people, as well as with other variables that measure education, such as type of school, quality of schools and reading proficiency, among others.
