The tensile behavior of a spray deposited aluminum-silicon alloy

摘要
In this paper the optical microstructure, tensile properties and fracture behavior of a hypereutectic aluminum-silicon alloy synthesized by spray atomization and deposition technique is presented and discussed. Ambient and elevated temperature tensile tests reveal the spray processed alloy to have better strength and ductility than a conventional ingot metallurgy processed alloy having the same chemical composition. The quasi-static fracture characteristics of the spray processed alloy is presented and discussed in light of processing influences and intrinsic microstructural effects. The fracture behavior of the spray processed alloy is compared with the conventionally processed counterpart.
