A complex gamma-TiAl based alloy, Ti-47Al-1Cr-1Mn-21a-0.2Si (at%), has been creep tested in a Fully lamellar microstructural condition at stresses of 200 and 150 MPa and at temperatures of 700 and 800 degrees C, respectively. This paper describes the effects of such creep test conditions on alloy microstructure. Crept samples exhibited two types of precipitate along lamellar colony boundaries. Their crystal structures and chemical compositions have been determined, and formation mechanisms and possible effects on creep are discussed. (C) 1998 Acta Metallurgica Inc.
