Impact and control of energy storage systems in wind power generation

摘要
A coordinated operation of electric energy storage and wind energy systems can mitigate the impact of the stochastic nature of wind energy, and make the combined plant dispatchable. In addition, this operation offers the possibility of planned islanding, which is not possible with wind alone. This paper considers the operation of electrical energy storage with wind turbine generators in a typical distribution system. The models of the system were developed and run for operation in parallel with the main grid and for transfer to islanded condition. The important issues, including energy storage management and voltage regulation, are discussed and the system operating characteristics are presented.
