The genus Lamyra Loew is reviewed. Four species are recognized, L. greatheadi Oldroyd, L. gulo (Loew), L, rossi Oldroyd, L. vorax Loew. A key for their identification and comments on their distribution and biology are provided. Redescriptions of L. gieatheadi and L. rossi are given. Laphria nobilis Walker is confirmed as a synonym of L. vorax. The genus is widely distributed in the Afrotropical Region, but also occurs in Israel.
