摘要：

The significance of wind-generated waves in altering the coupling between air and water is discussed. Empirical growth formulae for wind waves and observed spectral forms are exploited to attempt to explain the wave age dependent wind stress, the enhanced kinetic energy dissipation in the wave zone and the strongly wind dependent mass transfer rates of slightly soluble gases.
