摘要
Polymer composite materials have the potential for achieving lightweight high performance structural components with intrinsic crashworthiness under dynamic loading. The key issues in design of crashworthy composite components and structures are discussed. The crashworthiness of composites can be improved by predictive modelling and materials development. Both of these are shown to be dependent upon realistic and robust dynamic test methodology.
