A recent paper in the literature (Mod Phys. Lett. B, 9 (1995) 1673) introduced the Intermediate Number Squeezed State (INSS) of the quantized radiation field, interpolating between the number state in) and the squeezed-coherent state \z,alpha], exhibiting various nonclassical properties. Here, we introduce an alternative state, interpolating between those limiting states and show that nonclassical effects in this new intermediate state can be greater than those exibited by the INSS, depending on the values of the interpolating parameters. Although constituting an application of a general approach (Nuovo Cimento D, 18 (1996) 425), it includes another case in the literature (Phys. Scr., 55 (1997) 179) as a particularization of ours.
