摘要
Low-profile wideband hybrid metasurface (HMS) antenna arrays are presented. The antenna element is an array of 4 x 4 square metal patches, and fed by a 50-Omega microstrip line through an H-shaped slot cut on a ground plane. With the H-shaped slot positioned underneath the center slot of the array, dual resonance modes with broadside radiation are simultaneously excited for achieving a wide band operation. The edge patches of HMS antenna are grounded by shorting pins to suppress surface waves and cross-polarization levels as well as enhance gain. With the proposed HMS antenna, a compact high gain antenna array and a polarization reconfigurable antenna array are designed. The impedance bandwidths of 18.0% and 14.8% for vertical bar S-11 vertical bar <= -10 dB, and the boresight gains greater than 9.7 dBi and 8.5 dBi are accomplished over the whole operating band for the two arrays, respectively.
