SYNTHESIS AND BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES OF SOME NEW BENZOFURANOPYRAZOLES

摘要
1-(5-Bromo-1-benzofuran-2-yl) ethanone hydrazone 2 upon treatment with Vilsmeier Haack reagent underwent cyclization to give 3-(5-bromo-1-benzofuran-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde 3 which further on treatment with substituted acetophenones afforded the corresponding 3-[3-(5-bromo-1-benzofuran-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole-4-yl]-1-(substituted phenyl) prop-2-en-1-ones 4a-e. The reaction of compound 3 with substituted aromatic amines in methanol and also aromatic amines in presence of formaldehyde in dioxan (Mannich reaction) furnished substituted pyrazoles 5a-e and 6a-e respectively. All newly synthesized compounds were characterized on the basis of IR, (1)H NMR and mass spectral data and screened for their analgesic, antibacterial and antifungal activities. Some of the compounds showed good activity when compared with standard drugs.
