In this paper presents the design and analysis of compact coplanar waveguide-fed ultra wideband rectangular antenna. This proposed antenna exhibit very wide operating bandwidth (return loss <= - 10dB) of covers 3.5 - 26GHz range, which means a relative bandwidth of 152.5% covering FCC defined UWB band with stable omnidirectional radiation patterns and good gain. The parameters of antenna has been investigated and optimized by using CST microwave studio, it's validated by using another similar Ansoft HFSS. The aim of this study is to design a new compact antenna for UWB applications and the improvement the bandwidth by using two techniques, the first one is to remove a small fan angle on each side of the rectangular antenna, and the second one is the shape of the ground plane. The optimal dimensions can be achieved by a parametric analysis. This antenna is useful for UWB indoor application, handheld and wireless communication requiring low profile antennas. The antenna achieved is low cost and easy to fabricate and integrate with RF circuitry. The simulated results are described and discussed; distribution characteristic of the antenna design is also reviewed.(1)
