The Study on the Schema Theory Applied in the College English Teaching

Reading ability is one of important abilities in language application. Schema theory has the positive role in improving college students' English reading ability. This article explores the schema theory in terms of the defmition, classification and its studies at home and abroad. And then it discusses the relationship between schema theory and the college English reading teaching, and at last this article puts forward the ideas that the teachers should apply the schema theory into the practice of college reading teaching in order to improve the quality of the college students' reading through the schema knowledge in students' mind.
