摘要
The development of retinal microglia was studied during embryonic (E) and postnatal (P) stages using various markers (Iba-1, F4/80, anti-CD68, anti-CD45 and tomato lectin) that recognize different forms of macrophage/microglial cells. Labeled cells were already present in the retina at El 1.5 and increased in number during subsequent embryo development. A marked decrease in microglial density was observed immediately after birth, but the density of microglial cells again increased during the first postnatal week.
