Why rural Russians participate in the land market: Socio-economic factors

摘要：

The existing literature does not provide a theoretical basis for understanding why Russians participate in the land market. Based upon a survey of 800 rural households in five Russian regions, this article analyses three variable clusters which act as the independent variable: structural factors, capital factors and labour factors. Statistical analysis is performed to test which of the independent variables best explain participation in the land market. The analysis has policy implications as Russia searches for a way to transform its land relations.
