In this paper we analyze national diversity as a specific form of the capitalist mode of production. We review the fundamental works of Marxism dedicated to its study and we note the permanence of a current problem in the fact that what it is constitutive nation peculiarities tends to be conceived as existing externally to capital. We argue that this result in thinking nations as if each one of them were bearer of the general potentialities of the capitalist mode of production and failing to understand the differentiated world unity of capital.
